Hawker is a town with historic links to South Australia’s early days. The original Ghan train ran from Adelaide through Hawker and on to Alice Springs. The former railway station is now a restaurant. Other attractions include the Hawker Seismograph Station and Jeff Morgan’s Art Gallery which features the must see ‘Wilpena Panorama’.
Camel Treks Australia is based in Hawker. They plan to establish a unique tourist attraction based on their camel herd including a camel dairy, sale of associated products and a cafe.
Many walkers enjoy the Heysen Trail and cyclists enjoy riding the Mawson Trail. Hawker is a perfect base from which to explore these attractions.
